The Software Applications Developer II – Word Press & Web Development supports departmental digital platforms by performing complex and specialized web development functions across Word Press-based websites and full‑stack web applications.

• Review Word Press site documentation, code, and production results to identify root causes of issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems in Word Press environments, including theme conflicts, plugin failures, performance issues, and accessibility defects.
• Follow through on web development issues until resolved or escalated.
• Participate in data architecture design for web applications, including content modeling, database structure, and API integration within Word Press and custom solutions.
• Evaluate Word Press plugins, themes, frameworks, and web tools for applicability, security, and maintainability.
• Assist project leaders with developing work plans and time schedules for web projects.
• Consult with clients and stakeholders to review project plans, schedules, and communicate test results.
• Develop and implement complex Word Press themes, custom plugins, and full‑stack web applications.
• Write complex PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 code for Word Press themes, plugins, and web applications.
• Test Word Press themes, plugins, and web applications for functionality, cross‑browser compatibility, responsiveness, and WCAG
  2.1AA accessibility.
• Author and maintain technical documentation, developer guides, and onboarding materials.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff on Word Press workflows, codebases, and quality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Three (3) years of software applications development experience with a focus on Word Press and web development, including building and maintaining public‑facing Word Press sites using HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript (or related experience).

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, PHP, and JavaScript for Word Press‑based development.
• Familiarity with Word Press administration, including theme customization, plugin management, and content management workflows.
• Knowledge of web accessibility standards and version control practices.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field.
• More than four years of Word Press or full‑stack web development experience.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines or cloud hosting platforms such as WPEngine or Pantheon.
• Experience in a research, government, or higher education web environment.

• Maintain security and integrity of critical infrastructure.
• On‑call duty and work outside regular business hours as warranted.
• Work may require evenings, weekends, or holidays.
• Comply with state and federal laws, TexasA&M University System/Agri Life policies, regulations, rules, and procedures.
• Perform all tasks safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.
• Position may allow alternate work location per Agri Life guidelines.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on pay grade
69.
