Purpose:

The Employee will provide the role of systems administrator and technical operations. Duties will include but not limited to maintaining essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, and data center infrastructure. The employee, under the direction of the Director of Technology, will also provide management support for the system administration team supervise the systems division.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in IT related area preferred

MCSA, MCSE (Preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of a broad range of relevant multi-user systems, applications, and/or equipment.
  • Skilled in planning, design, installation, testing, and modification of basic systems or supporting subsystems.
  • Possesses specialized skills in the use of one or more programming languages specific to the assignment.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information systems proposals of limited scope and impact or assist with analysis of larger projects; ability to develop according to a specified set of requirements and deliverables.
  • Ability to specify and develop computer programs or subsystems of limited scope and impact using a range of programming languages.
  • Knowledge of network hardware and software applications
  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience performing system installation, upgrades, management and maintenance
  • 2+ years of experience of server administration and support preferred

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct detailed systems analysis to define software requirements. Perform all phases of software development, including analysis, design, writing code, testing, and implementation, and ensure that developed software is designed to meet technical and user requirements.
  • Analyze system hardware and software problems and develop technical solutions.
  • Write and maintain detailed systems documentation including user and technical manuals.
  • Work with stakeholders and users to determine programing needs, clarify requests, translate user and systems requirements into functional technical specifications, and provide technical assistance.
  • Act as a liaison between developers and end users to ensure technical compatibility and satisfaction.
  • Provide programming-related support for administrative applications (e.g., student, payroll, finance, personnel).
  • Coordinate business systems-related issues with regional educational service center staff, including identification of and assistance with the resolution of program problems, design of systems enhancements, and implementation of system enhancements.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft server and Microsoft Active Directory
  • Experience with virtualization platforms, such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper V
  • Knowledge of identity access management tools
  • Ability to communicate with users outside the department with tact, good judgment and confidentiality
  • Strong knowledge of data privacy and security requirements and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of disaster recovery, data safety and integrity, and development of bulk import/export procedures
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements for the position

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Oversea the systems administrator team, providing leadership, coaching and performance management
  • Plan, direct and develop system administrator team; assign and monitor tasks
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues
  • Evaluate vendors, manage software licensing, and ensure compliance with technical and local/state/federal requirements
  • Manage projects, budgets and resource allocation for IT initiatives
  • Ensure alignment of technical operations with district objectives and compliance standards
