Job DescriptionThe Project Manager III manages the Cultural Resources Team project activities, including developing, implementing, tracking budgets, tracking timelines and deliverables, and providing periodic evaluations and reports for cultural resources projects that are generally medium to large in scope. Develops and coordinates project plans through full implementation.
Responsibilities- Manages the cultural resources team at Fort Irwin.
- Preservation Act consultation and documentation under Section 106/110.
- Develop, assess, and coordinate cultural resources projects as assigned by the sponsor.
- Recommends program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations and review project documents (work plans, schedules, etc.). Monitor and prepare progress reports.
- Assist with geospatial mapping of cultural resources and other GIS work.
- Technical report writing, reviews, and revisions.
- Assist with annual review of the Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan (ICRMP) and execution of tasks included within the plan.
- Support Tribal consultation, meetings, and site visits.
- Track permit and project milestones dates and deadlines.
- Administrative and field support to large cultural surveys, NRHP evaluation projects, curation assistance as appropriate, data recovery efforts, fencing of protected areas, cultural monitoring, and other duties as assigned.
- Periodically conducts meetings with stakeholders to schedule and coordinate project activities.
- Establishes goals for project delivery. Applies current best practices in vendor selection, contract negotiation, and project lifecycle.
- Monitors and complies with project budgets and schedules.
- May supervise staff and students.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Seven years of related experience.
- Working knowledge of spreadsheet, presentation, and word processing software programs.
- Interpersonal and communication skills and ability to plan and organize effectively.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds in the future.
