The RoleThe CNC Programmer creates, optimizes, and supports CNC programs for production parts across milling and turning platforms. You'll work closely with machinists and engineers to make sure programs are efficient, repeatable, and capable of meeting quality and throughput targets. This role reports to the Master CNC Programmer.
What You'll Do Programming & Setup- Program CNC mills and lathes using Mastercam (or equivalent CAM software)
- Develop efficient toolpaths, speeds/feeds, and work holding strategies
- Support initial setups and prove-out of new programs on the floor
- Revise and optimize released programs to improve cycle time and consistency
- Diagnose and resolve machining issues related to tooling, programs, or setup
- Verify part quality using standard inspection tools (calipers, mics, gauges)
- Work with machinists to ensure programs run reliably in production
- Participate in root cause analysis of process failures and recommend process improvements
- Implement mistake-proofing (poka-yoke) techniques such as probing cycles and purposeful work holding to reduce waste
- Identify opportunities to reduce cycle time, improve tool life, and increase throughput
- Strong experience with CNC milling and turning
- Experienced in full machine and fixture setup on mills and lathes
- Proficiency in Mastercam or similar CAM software
- Solid understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading
- Experience selecting tooling, speeds, and feeds across aluminum and steels
- Familiarity with Fanuc and Haas controls
- Ability to move between programming and shop floor execution
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
- 4+ years of CNC programming experience in a production environment
- Proven experience programming both mills and lathes
- Experience improving cycle times and program efficiency
- Hands-on setup and prove-out experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Formal machining or trade school training, or completed apprenticeship
- Experience with multi-axis milling or live-tooling lathes
- Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g., Solid Works)
- Programs run cleanly with minimal operator intervention
- Cycle times improve over time, not degrade
- New parts are brought online quickly and correctly
- Strong collaboration between programming and machining
- Manufacturing floor environment (PPE required)
- Mix of programming and hands-on machine interaction
- Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
