Greenhouse Technician

We are hiring immediately for a full‑time GREENHOUSE TECHNICIAN position.

Location
: TAMU – 600 Agronomy Road, College Station, TX 77843. (Openings at other locations within the school district available.

Schedule
:
Full‑time schedule;
Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. Weekend rotation. More details upon interview. (Full and part‑time with flexibility to meet most scheduling needs.)

Requirement
:
Prior greenhouse experience and basic knowledge of plant needs are required.

Pay Range
: $14.00 per hour to $17.50 per hour.

Summary
:
Plans and administers a program of grounds and plant maintenance, including growing schedules, propagation through plants and cuttings, and general janitorial duties such as property inspections, landscaping, and grounds maintenance.

• Provides quality customer service by offering one‑on‑one attention to detail.
• Planting, seeding, cuttings, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, pruning, weeding, thinning, pest and disease control.
• Inspects common areas and reports deficiencies to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Inspects the exterior of the property and grounds; reports deficiencies to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Mows lawns weekly during the proper season and cleans landscaping tools and equipment after each use.
• Trims bushes to maintain a neat appearance and desired shape.
• Prepares soil mixes.
• Rotates crops, manages inventory, and assists with loading plant material to the field.
• Keeps greenhouses and nursery clean at all times.
• Designs containers.
• Installs plants and color arrangements.
• Weeds flowerbeds weekly or more often as needed.
• Shovels exterior walkways during wintery weather; salts or sands icy walkways as needed.
• Contributes to the team; facilitates good customer interactions; exhibits professionalism with customers, fellow employees, and others with whom there is contact.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
