Postdoctoral Research Associate Position:
Human Neuroimaging and Focused Ultrasound

I am recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Texas A&M University.

The successful candidate will contribute to NIH-funded clinical neuroscience research examining the effects of low-intensity focused ultrasound in human participants. Our work combines noninvasive neuromodulation with structural and functional MRI, diffusion imaging, behavioral measures, and network-level analyses to investigate brain circuits relevant to psychiatric disorders.

We welcome applicants with a doctoral degree in neuroscience, medicine, psychology, biomedical engineering, physics, computer science, data science, or another relevant quantitative or biomedical field. Prior experience with focused ultrasound is not required.

We are particularly interested in individuals who have:

• A foundation in quantitative research and data analysis
• Some experience with programming, preferably in Python, R, MATLAB, Bash, or a related language
• Familiarity with neuroimaging, biomedical imaging, signal processing, computational neuroscience, or complex data analysis
• The ability and motivation to learn advanced structural, diffusion, and functional MRI methods
• Strong attention to detail, scientific curiosity, and an interest in collaborative clinical neuroscience research

The postdoctoral associate will help design and conduct human-subject experiments involving low-intensity focused ultrasound, behavioral assessments, and neuroimaging; acquire, process, analyze, and interpret research data; and contribute to manuscripts, scientific presentations, and technical progress reports. The associate will collaborate closely with faculty, research staff, and other investigators and may mentor students involved in related projects. A central expected outcome of the position is the development and submission of an extramural fellowship, training grant, or career-development award to support the candidate’s transition toward an independent research career.
