About the PositionPrecision Nutrition in Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture (IHA) at Texas A&M University is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist in Bioinformatics to join a multidisciplinary research team investigating the interactions among nutrition, metabolism, immunity, aging, and chronic diseases. The successful candidate will lead the analysis and integration of large-scale multi-omics datasets generated from both animal models and human studies.
Responsibilities- Analyzes and interprets high-throughput sequencing and omics datasets, including:
Microbiome (16S rRNA and shotgun metagenomics), Bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, Spatial transcriptomics, Proteomics, Metabolomics, Multi-omics integration analyses. - Develops and maintains bioinformatics pipelines for data processing and quality control.
- Collaborates with biologists, nutrition scientists, and clinicians to generate biological insights from complex datasets.
- Prepares figures, reports, manuscripts, and grant applications.
- Mentors graduate students and other trainees in computational biology approaches.
- Contributes to the development of innovative analytical methods and research directions.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Eight years of related experience.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing next-generation sequencing data.
- Proficiency in R, Python, Linux/Unix, and statistical analysis.
- Experience with microbiome, transcriptomics, proteomics, or metabolomics datasets.
- Strong publication record and excellent communication skills.
Education and Experience
- Master or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Systems Biology, or a related field.
- Experience with single-cell RNA-seq analysis.
- Experience with multi-omics integration and systems biology approaches.
- Familiarity with cloud computing, high-performance computing clusters, and machine learning methods.
- Experience with pathway enrichment, network analysis, and visualization tools.
