Job Description

Purpose: The Biotechnology Lab Technician will perform research in the Nano Bio Systems Laboratory, a multidisciplinary lab featured in microbiology research integrated with microfluidics (website: project will be highly interdisciplinary and fast-paced, having multiple collaborating labs in environmental microbiology, microbial pathogenesis, and bioinformatics. The candidate is expected to work closely with lab members including postdoctoral researchers and graduate students.

Responsibilities
  • Perform microbiological experiments in the Nano Bio Systems Laboratory.
  • Work closely with postdoctoral researchers and graduate students in the laboratory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What we need
  • Bachelors degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of related experience
What is helpful
  • Masters degree in microbiology or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in microbiology skills such as isolation and cultivation of bacterial strains, growth phenotype examination, molecular biology skills such as nucleic acid or protein extraction, electroporation etc.
  • Experience in handling cells (mammalian cells, microorganisms) in microsystems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong expertise in microbiology and molecular biology disciplines.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
