About the RoleAs a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining safe, comfortable living environments for residents across our student communities. You’ll complete maintenance work orders, troubleshoot electrical, plumbing and HVAC issues, and serve as the primary point of contact for tenant requests.
Key duties include performing preventative maintenance, completing specialized work orders, and supporting facility upgrades and renovations under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities- Respond to and complete maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building issues.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company protocols.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and inspections.
- Select and recommend improvements to enhance building system longevity.
- Complete specialized work orders requiring advanced technical skills.
- Collaborate with external contractors or technical specialists when necessary.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for tenant maintenance requests and inquiries.
- Provide timely updates on status and expected completion times.
- Assist with delegated tasks from the Maintenance Manager or senior leadership.
- Collaborate with maintenance staff and other departments on projects.
- Support facility upgrades, renovations, and relocations when required.
- Hands‑on experience as a Maintenance Technician or in a skilled trade, preferably in multifamily or high‑turnover residential settings.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building systems.
- Certifications such as EPA, HVAC, or electrical are a plus but not required.
- Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to triage and resolve issues quickly.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Detail‑oriented, deadline‑driven with a track record of prioritizing tasks efficiently, especially during Make‑Ready season (July 19 – August 15).
- Professional communication skills and respectful interaction with residents.
- Team‑player mentality with flexibility to assist where needed.
- Tech‑savvy and organized, comfortable using maintenance software such as App Folio or Property Meld.
- Reliable transportation, availability for weekly meetings, occasional evenings, weekends, seasonal on‑call rotations, and during Make‑Ready season.
