FES-Building Access manages all aspects of building access, including the creation, control, and issuance of keys. Our services cover keying and rekeying for interior doors, office furniture, cabinets, and more. We also install new locks, cores, keyless entry systems, and digital access hardware, as well as security cameras to monitor premises.
Responsibilities- Rekey, install, and maintain locks under general supervision.
- Install and maintain the University card access system and manage related wiring.
- Maintain shop database records and inventory, and place orders for materials and supplies.
- Assist the Technical Supervisor and Office Manager, and oversee assigned Building Access Tech I and Building Access Trainee positions.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Four years of experience in locksmithing, carpentry, electronics, or a related field.
- Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
- Ability to multi‑task, work cooperatively, and communicate or teach new concepts effectively.
- Completion of apprenticeship locksmith or access control certification.
- More than four years’ experience in a related field such as locksmith, carpentry, or electronics.
- Knowledge of master keying systems and commercial door hardware.
- Experience and training with online and stand‑alone card access systems.
- Install university card access system, pull wire, wire control modules, card readers, and hardware.
- Troubleshoot wiring problems or lock malfunctions using a volt/amp meter as needed.
- Repair mechanical locks not part of the university’s card access system.
- Rekey locks, cut keys, and stamp with university m.
- Install commercial‑grade mechanical hardware.
- Assist Technical Supervisor with large keyless entry projects and assist Office Manager with administrative issues.
- Oversee the computer management of the campus keying system and maintain secure data records.
- Availability to be on call for after‑hours emergencies on a rotating schedule.
- Ability to work overtime or special hours as needed.
