Utilities Metering Systems Technician

The Utilities Metering Systems Technician is responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance and, troubleshooting of electric and water metering systems.

Pay Range: $18.59 to $26.56

Required

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED. PREFERRED:
    Experience installing electrical meters and meter related PLCs.
  • Three years experience in installation, maintenance, or repair of instrument rated digital electric or water meters, programming of electric or water meters, or other related experience.

Required Licenses, Certifications and Registrations:

  • Valid Texas Class C driver license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of digital electrical or water metering.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with 24v, 120/240v wiring.
  • Capable of interpreting electrical and mechanical construction drawings and specifications.
  • Journeyman Electrician License

Responsibilities:

  • METER TECHNICIAN:
    Assist in the installiation of electric metering devices, and meters that monitor chilled and heating hot water, domestic water, steam, and Irrigation metering. Assist with installation and set up of temperature sensors. This will require driving a university vehicle to different university locations. Maintains up to date working knowledge of relevant regulatory issues and technological changes in the metering of utilities.
  • DOCUMENTATION:
    Assist with the documentation of metering locations.
