Job Description
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Perform cleanup duties.
- Perform material handling and storage duties.
- Identify, use, and care for common hand and power tools.
- Apply safety standards and best safety practices relevant to rigging.
- Inspect rigging equipment and hardware.
- Use and care for craft‑specific tools and equipment.
- Apply knowledge of common hitches, emergency stop signals, basic crane hand signals, and knot tying (bowline & clove hitch) for craft‑specific tasks.
- Apply craft‑related mathematics.
- Read and use a vehicle operator's manual.
- Identify vehicle safety equipment.
- Inspect all vehicle systems before start‑up.
- Perform proper vehicle start‑up, operation, and shutdown procedures.
- Care for and clean up after vehicle.
- Perform vehicle inspection, service, and maintenance as required.
- The position may require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with additional endorsements depending on vehicle type and/or purpose.
- Requires CDL Class B minimum with Tank (N) endorsement and a clean MVR.
- Drive a tank truck to transport non‑potable water for construction projects.
- Insert pipe in refilled trenches and other excavations, and operate auxiliary pump on truck to pump water into fill to settle and compact dirt.
- Operate truck equipped with a sprinkling attachment to settle dust on roadways and in construction areas, streets, etc., and to saturate flexible base for compaction.
- Operate truck equipped with a trailer (under 10,000 pounds).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Understand and carry out oral instructions.
- Read and carry out written instructions to perform work tasks.
- Work at varying heights.
- Recognize, avoid, and report safety hazards.
- Assemble and disassemble objects.
- Operate equipment and power tools.
- See hazards, safety warnings, and barriers.
- Bend knees for lifting and routine work tasks.
- Stoop for work positioning and lifting to perform work tasks.
- Lift maximum 50 lbs without assistance.
- Comprehend and respond to audible/visual instructions, alarms, and warnings.
- Climb/balance on ladders, scaffolding, and structures for work tasks.
- Kneel for work positioning and task performance.
- Reach above shoulders and away from body to perform work tasks.
- Demonstrate manual dexterity to perform work tasks.
- Work in extreme heat or cold.
- Work where noise level is above 85 decibels.
- Work in wet/humid environment.
- Work in cramped quarters.
- Work in environment of fluctuating ventilation.
- Work inside and outside.
