Research Technician II

Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled, technical support research work involving assignments requiring modification and adaptation to routine procedures. The role involves supporting the development of an AI‑enabled Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) engine and contributing to the creation of a dynamic “living” INRMP framework. Key responsibilities include data curation, corpus engineering, preprocessing, structuring, and enabling machine‑readable INRMP content for downstream AI/ML workflows.

- Support for AI INRMP Engine Development
- Data Integration for “living” INRMP Framework
- Contribution to Standardization & Retro‑fitting Tasks
- Collaboration & Project Coordination
- Collect samples and measurement data from experiments; implement and maintain data collection and summarization of field trials.
- Perform analysis and tests; record observations and scientific measurements.
- Extract, collect and compile data; compute quantities and extend projections.
- Assemble and operate technical equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist senior staff in conducting major field experiments and consult in developing procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of related experience.
- Strong experience in data engineering and document‑centric data processing.
- Expertise in transforming unstructured documents into structured formats (XML/JSON/semantic layers).
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Strong experience in data engineering and document‑centric data processing.
- Expertise in transforming unstructured documents into structured formats (XML/JSON/semantic layers).
- Working knowledge of RAG pipelines, LLM data curation, or AI system data requirements.
- Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including AI/ML specialists, natural resources analysts, and integration engineers.
- Ability to lift moderately heavy objects; ability to exert heavy force.
- Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends.
