Summer Internship – Software Development

At CAPSHER Technology, interns don’t spend the summer working on a practice project off to the side. You’ll join a real project team and work alongside full-time software engineers to contribute to software that matters.

During this full-time, 10-week internship, you’ll take on meaningful development work, participate in the team’s day-to-day process, and be expected to grow into a functioning, productive member of the team. You’ll have support from experienced engineers, but you’ll also have the opportunity to take ownership of your work, make decisions, and see how your contributions fit into the larger project.

This internship is fully onsite at our office in College Station, Texas.

What you’ll do:

• Work as part of a project team alongside full-time software engineers
• Contribute production-quality code to a real software application
• Participate in planning, design discussions, development, testing, code reviews, and delivery
• Learn the project’s technology, business needs, and development practices
• Ask questions, seek feedback, and apply what you learn to your work
• Communicate your progress, plans, questions, and roadblocks to your team
• Take ownership of assigned work and follow it through to completion
• Learn how the different parts of the software development process work together
• Experience CAPSHER’s culture through everyday team interactions and company-sponsored events

What you can expect from us:

You’ll be trusted with work that contributes to your team and given room to think through problems and make meaningful decisions. Experienced engineers will help you understand the project, plan your work, strengthen your technical skills, and work through challenges throughout the summer.

Our goal is for you to leave the internship with a realistic understanding of what it means to develop software as part of a professional project team, and with ten weeks of real experience doing it.

You may be a good fit if you:

• Have experience with at least one object-oriented programming language and understand basic data structures
• Can break down problems and work through them thoughtfully
• Communicate your ideas, progress, and questions clearly
• Work well with others and contribute to a team
• Are curious, open to feedback, and eager to keep learning
• Take ownership of your responsibilities and ask for help when you need it
• Are available to work full time for the full 10-week internship
• Can work fully onsite in College Station, Texas for the summer
• Want to get to know your coworkers and participate in the CAPSHER community
• Are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering, or can demonstrate a strong interest in and commitment to software development
• Are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, asylee, refugee, or temporary resident. Temporary residents do not include those with nonimmigrant work authorization (F, J, H or L visas), such as students in practical training status. Exceptions to these requirements may be determined based on shortage of qualified candidates with a particular skill. CAPSHER will require proof of work authorization.
