Position: Pilot I

Pilot I – Agency – Texas A&M University System Offices

Perform duties of pilot‑in‑command on Citation XLS and/or King Air 200 aircraft. Responsibilities include flight planning, mentoring crew, ensuring safety and efficiency, and maintaining aircraft and navigation documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all missions as pilot‑in‑command with priority on safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Perform or delegate preflight inspection of aircraft and develop comprehensive flight plans considering passenger needs and aircraft limitations.
  • Make aircraft airworthiness decisions when not at a maintenance facility.
  • Decide to initiate, postpone or cancel any assigned flight based on a conservative evaluation of operating conditions and passenger requirements.
  • Document all items required for billing and for maintaining a continuous record of aircraft history and mechanical discrepancies.
  • Maintain and update aircraft and navigation documents; ensure proper certification of aircraft and equipment.
  • Provide appropriate training and mentoring to less experienced crew members.
  • Act as a coordinated crew member and perform additional related duties assigned by the Regional Flight Director and Chief Pilot.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2,000 flight hours, including 800 pilot‑in‑command hours and 800 multi‑engine hours, of which 300 must be turbo‑prop or jet hours.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses
  • Commercial pilot certificate with appropriate ratings for equipment flown.
  • Multi‑engine and instrument ratings; an ATP certificate may substitute.
  • Current Federal Aviation Administration Second Class Medical Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Passenger‑handling experience and use of tact, diplomacy and courtesy.
  • Willingness to work extended duty days, including overnight stays, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to report on short notice.
  • Ability to multi‑task and work cooperatively with others.
