The Camp Manager is responsible for the effective commercial and operational management of all aspects of remote camp operations for the assigned account. Manages client and stakeholder relationships and achieves and maintains DUS standards giving the highest achievable quality.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing the efficient delivery of food and environmental services (housekeeping, janitorial, maintenance) at the assigned remote camp(s) on the North Slope of Alaska; organizing and directing daily operations; managing scope of work within budget; interacting with the client for daily matters related to the execution of the contract, and managing the workforce. The Camp Manager ensures all functions are performed in compliance with the contract’s scope of work, DUS policies, standard operating procedures, and all applicable laws/regulations.
REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in an operational environment in a multi-site operational management position and/or tertiary qualification in business management/hospitality or a related topic.
- Experience in a ‘service’ industry, with minimum 5 years’ experience on a remote site.
- Understanding of Food Safety, OH&S and other applicable legislation.
- Understanding of remote site markets and knowledge of the issues that drive and impact the relevant industries.
- Well-developed people management skills.
- Experience in workplace training and mentoring of teams.
- Computer literate.
- Sound financial management skills in a profit and loss environment.
- Highly developed communication skills including written, verbal and formal presentations.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain professional, trusting and positive working relationships with clients.
- Self-motivated, self-confident, honest, professional, ethical and flexible.
- Current driver’s license and clean driving record

- Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English.
- Reliable access to a smartphone capable of running apps for scheduling, timekeeping (clocking in/out), shift communications, and time-off requests
- As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical.
- Overall management of Business activities on all Sites contained in assigned Operational Portfolio.
- Accountable for DUS logistics and supply of goods from distribution centres in a timely, safe and cost-effective manner.
- Ensuring cleaning processes and standards are benchmarked and comply with contractual terms and company standards.
- Control and security of all company goods, chattels, equipment and money in line with DUS policies.
- Maintain all company vehicles in a safe, roadworthy and clean condition.
- Development of strong working relationships and a professional and ethical attitude with all employee and client contracts associated with the business.
- Comply with the Terms & Conditions and Scope of Work contained in the Services Agreement(s) for portfolio of responsibility.
- Develop long and short range plans for the operation of the camp(s). Ensure the plans, once approved, are properly executed. Ensure operational standards are communicated, trained, and maintained.
