Packaging Operator
The Packaging Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining packaging machinery to ensure efficient production of McKee Foods products. The operator will set up machines, monitor packaging processes, and troubleshoot any issues to ensure product quality and adherence to safety standards. This role involves working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment and requires close attention to detail, teamwork, and a strong focus on safety efficiency.
- Sets up and operates packaging and related equipment
- Monitors and maintains appropriate settings to ensure efficient and accurate runs while keeping waste to a minimum and ensuring product purity
- Ensures that product is properly wrapped and packaged while maintaining quality standards and product flow
- Conducts startups, shutdowns, and changeovers as needed
- Enters measurement data and report information into the computer system accurately, analyzing information, maintaining equipment (preventative maintenance), keeping work areas clean and equipment clean
- Communicate with other shifts regarding the job
- Performs other duties as required
Required Qualifications
- Excellent organizational skills
- Self-motivated with high initiative
- Basic math skills
- Adaptable to change and able to do multiple tasks; flexible
- Ability to work effectively with others; team player
- Good communication skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to frequently lift and move 50 lbs.
- Good analytical skills
- Ability to determine cause and effect; troubleshooting skills
- Ability to learn basic computer skills
- Good work record, safety, and attendance record; dependable
- Demonstrated desire to work hard
- Willingness to try new ideas
- Minor equipment maintenance
- Steel-toed slip resistant safety shoes required
- Knowledge of and adherence to company food safety, product purity, company policy and departmental procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of McKee Foods Corporation and OSHA safety regulations
- General mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of OPM software systems or PC experience
