Dishwasher; Part-Time - Village Market

Location: Village Market Deli

Hours: Part-Time, Hourly

Pay: $16.43 - $22.73

To wash, sanitize and dry all Deli cooking equipment from daily use in a timely manner. To always follow and practice the policies and procedures set by the TN Department of Agriculture. If main department’s expected duties are complete, they may be asked to assist in other areas as needed including, but not limited to prep, inventory and housekeeping.

• Maintain a Christian and positive work atmosphere by precept and example;
• Follow all SAU and Village Market policies;
• Using the automatic industrial dishwasher to wash, rinse and sanitize all Deli cooking equipment which includes, but is not limited to pots, pans, bowls, slicers, choppers, mixers, cutting boards, knives and various cooking and serving utensils;
  • Some equipment may require hand-washing only
• Put cooking equipment away when dry;
• Always adhere to TN Department of Agriculture procedures and policies when it comes to washing, cleaning, sanitizing and drying in a food service setting;
• Notify Deli management of situations or problems, or suggestions that could improve logistics;

• Be conscious of next-day’s tasks and prep accordingly;
• Perform daily department-related cleaning tasks, as well as uncommon tasks during slow times;
• Perform all other reasonably business-related functions as assigned.

• A high school degree or GED equivalent is preferred;
• Previous dishwashing experience in a food service setting is preferred, but not required.

• Ability to speak, read, write, interpret and understand the English language with sufficient proficiency.

• Ability to communicate effectively;
• Be a self-starter who displays speed, accuracy, neatness, cleanliness, and organizational skills and has the ability to motivate others to do the same;
• Approachable, friendly, positive attitude, and able to work well as a team member.

• Requires standing, bending, and reaching;
• Must be able to withstand working with high water temperatures using provided gear and following safety procedures (such as wearing appropriate gloves when high temperature water)
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds with relative ease;
• Requires manual dexterity sufficient to use food preparation utensils (knives, scoops, spreaders and spatulas etc.), operate food service equipment (food slicers, chopping bowls, mixers etc.), and an industrial dishwasher (will train as needed);
• Requires normal range of motion, hearing, and vision.

• Most essential tasks are performed under louder than normal conditions due to the industrial automatic dishwasher;
• A normal work day requires being able to use an industrial automatic dishwasher, where water temperatures can reach 180F or more;
• Due to the nature of the job, the air temperature can be warmer than 72F, is usually humid, and while rubber floor mats are present, water is commonly on the floor;
• Work area is well-lit and ventilated;
• Being able to access and work in cold and sub-frozen temperatures (walk-in coolers and freezers) in a limited timeframe may occur;
• Access to break areas, storage areas, offices and employee restrooms requires ascending and descending a flight of stairs.

Must have a strongly expressed commitment to Jesus Christ, the teachings and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and an SDA church member in good and regular standing.
