Summary and Scope of Position:
The Associate Director (AD) of Admission, plays a key leadership role in meeting the enrollment goals of Ursinus College, as well as maintaining the academic profile and fiscal health of the college. As a crucial member of the Office of Admission, the Associate Director acts as significant support for the Director of Admission, as well as other members of the admission team, through strategically implementing a highly efficient, team-based enrollment model.
Utilizing best practices, sound professional judgment and strategy development, the Associate Director is a key member of the leadership team, providing support to the Director and Senior Associate Director of Admission. A proactive and nimble approach to evolving environments in application development, project management, and higher education trends is needed for successful outcomes.
- As a senior member of the admission team, support the Director of Admission in organizing and implementing comprehensive training programs for the entirety of the admission staff.
- In conjunction with the Director of Admission, strategies to facilitate enrollment growth.
- Perform duties as a full member of the admission counseling staff, including management of an assigned territory, representing the College to prospective students, families and counselors via recruitment travel, file review, presentations and prospective student interviews.
- Maintains personal contact with prospective students and their parents, high school counselors and other influencers (i.e. CBOs) from inquiry through enrollment. Respond to inquiries regarding applications, admission policies and procedures, financial aid availability and program offerings at Ursinus College through prompt response to phone calls, text messages and email inquires.
- Exercise professional judgment, follow established guidelines and expectations in reviewing applications and recommending applicants for admissions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with prospective first year, international and transfer students and their families through frequent text messages, telephone, email, written and in-person contact.
- Participation in travel within the assigned recruitment territory and new growth markets which includes school visits, college fairs, specialty recruitment tours and attendance at special programs as well as virtual events.
- Along with the Senior Associate Director of Admission, manage admission counselors on staff.
- Through collaboration with other departmental staff, plan and formulate strategies to attract qualified and interested first year, transfer and international students to Ursinus College.
- Collaborates with Student Financial Services, as well as other campus offices, to provide information necessary for conversion and yield of prospective students.
- Responsible for all aspects of managing a small first year territory and willingness to cover local first year travel as needed .
- Extremely frequent evening and weekend work required.
- Bachelor’s Degree, with 5+ years of progressively responsible admission experience, preferably at a regionally accredited college or university.
- A proactive and nimble approach to evolving environments in events and project management, collaborative campus partnerships, and higher education trends is needed for successful outcomes.
- An in-depth knowledge of, and passion for 21st century liberal arts education.
