The Perkiomen Valley School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified Part-Time School Police Officer to join our team.
Position Description
Under the direction and supervision of the Chief of Police, the School Police Officer works with school administrators, security staff and faculty to develop comprehensive safety plans to provide for the safety and welfare of students while on school grounds. The Officer shall be a sworn police officer with the power to arrest as defined and limited in the Pennsylvania Code.
Termsof Employment
- Schedule: 3:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- Days per Week: Flexible scheduling available; up to five (5) days per week based on candidate availability and district needs.
- Hours per Week: Up to 27.5 hours per week.
- Successfully completed basic training as required by the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission under 53 PA.C.S. Ch. 21 Subch.
D. or graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. - Separated honorably from service as a Municipal Police Officer or State Trooper in good standing.
- Five (5) years of continuous successful police service.
- Upon hire, must successfully complete the Basic School Resource Officer Course of Instruction offered by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) or an equivalent course approved by PCCD.
- Must successfully complete MPOETC annual firearms qualifications.
- Must successfully complete “School Police Officer Field Training” within the first 90 days after hire.
- Must possess valid CPR, First Aid, AED certification.
- Must possess a valid PA driver’s license.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated experience in working with children and young adults.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices, mental health, and crisis response for adolescents.
- Appropriate training with respect to police and juvenile matters.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.
