Job DescriptionThe Perkiomen Valley School District is seeking two School Police Officers at South Elementary School and Schwenksville Elementary School. These are full-time, 10-month (210 days) positions available immediately.
Position DescriptionUnder the direction and supervision of the Chief of Police, the School Police Officer is responsible for working with school administrators, security staff and faculty on developing comprehensive safety plans to provide for the safety and welfare of students while on school grounds. The School Police Officer shall be a sworn police officer with the power to arrest as defined and limited as defined in the Pennsylvania Code.
Termsof Employment
- Full-time; 210 days
- Salary and benefits commensurate with the Confidential/At-Will Employee Group compensation plan
- Eligible for Overtime
- Successfully completed basic training as required by the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission under 53 PA.C.S. Ch. 21 Subch.
D. or graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy - Separated honorably from service as a Municipal Police Officer or State Trooper in good standing
- Five (5) years of continuous successful police service
- Upon hire, must successfully complete the Basic School Resource Officer Course of Instruction offered by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) or an equivalent course of instruction approved by PCCD
- Must successfully complete MPOETC annual firearms qualifications
- Must successfully complete “School Police Officer Field Training” within the first 90 days after hire.
- Must possess valid CPR, First Aide, AED Certification
- Must possess a valid PA driver’s license
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated experience in working with children and young adults.
- Knowledge of trauma informed practices, mental health and crisis response for adolescents
- Appropriate training with respect to police and juvenile matters.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.
