The candidate assessment is a 15-45 minute, self-administered psychometric assessment. It measures reasoning and problem-solving skills, plus 25 traits, or dimensions of personality, intended to measure an individual’s characteristics for the purpose of determining the best fit for employment in a specific position.
Job SummaryThis job is responsible for maintaining readiness for emergency call response; responding to fire, medical, and related emergency calls when dispatched and taking proper action; performing routine apparatus and facility maintenance and performing other tasks related to City and Fire Department activities. The employee works within the scope of established Fire Department rules, regulations and procedures; however, is expected to exercise considerable judgment and initiative, in emergency situations.
Responds to alarms and performs fire suppression and emergency medical duties including entry, ventilation, and salvage work that may involve crawling in confined spaces; climbing ladders and objects; reaching, lifting or dragging; pulling, rolling, or carrying of fire hoses and fire/medical equipment over uneven and unstable terrain.
Qualifications- Paramedic Requirements - High School Diploma or GED required supplemented by one (1) year of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
Basic Firefighter 1 and 2 certification from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection;
Paramedic Certification;
Acceptable physical fitness, background, and possession of or ability to obtain a State of Texas Class B driver’s license within 90 days of employment. - EMT Requirements - High School Diploma or GED required supplemented by one (1) year of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
Basic Firefighter 1 and 2 certification from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection;
Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B);
Acceptable physical fitness, background, and possession of or ability to obtain a State of Texas Class B driver’s license within 90 days of employment.
Paramedic: $78,432 annually.
EMT: $74,697 annually.
