Middle School Cheerleading Coach

Position Summary
The Middle School Cheer Coach leads and develops student-athletes by teaching foundational cheer skills, promoting teamwork, and modeling Christ-centered character. This role is responsible for planning and conducting practices, preparing athletes for games and events, and fostering a positive, disciplined, and encouraging team culture. The coach partners with the Athletic Department to support school spirit, athletic excellence, and the holistic growth of each student while ensuring safety, accountability, and alignment with Covenant Christian Academy’s mission and values.
With the support and guidance of the Head of the Cheer Program:
- Plan and lead a minimum of two afternoon practices per week, emphasizing skill development, safety, and team unity.
- Teach and reinforce foundational cheer skills, routines, chants, and game-day expectations appropriate for middle school athletes.
- Ensure preparedness, punctuality, and active participation at all home middle school football and basketball games.
- Prepare athletes for game-day performances, including routines, sidelines, and crowd engagement.
- Model and instill Christ-centered character, discipline, respect, and sportsmanship.
- Maintain clear communication with athletes, parents, and the Athletic Department regarding schedules, expectations, and events.
- Support school spirit initiatives and collaborate with coaches, administrators, and event staff as needed.
- Uphold all school, athletic department, and safety policies at practices, games, and events.
- Assist with equipment, uniforms, and facility care related to the cheer program.
- Qualifications
- A mature and growing personal faith in Jesus Christ consistent with CCA’s Statement of Faith.
- Commitment to Christian education and Christ-centered student development.
- Prior experience in cheer, athletics, coaching, or working with middle school–aged students preferred.
- Ability to teach age-appropriate cheer skills, routines, and game-day expectations.
- Strong communication, organization, and relational skills.
- Dependable, professional, and able to meet afternoon and evening time commitments.
- Willingness to complete all TAPPS compliance requirements.
