Responsible for complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely closing of the general ledger. Under moderate supervision.
This position plays a critical role in financial reporting, technical accounting, and cross‑functional collaboration. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with clear written communication, including drafting memos, researching complex accounting issues, and preparing leadership‑ready reporting. You will support month‑end and year‑end close activities, lead OSC and professional fee contract analysis, perform technical accounting research, evaluate the financial impact of new initiatives, and partner across the business to strengthen controls, processes, and audit readiness.
This role serves as a key accounting resource, driving accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across assigned areas.
- Responsible for complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely closing of the general ledger.
- Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset processing, lease/contract review, accrual entries, and/or budget variance reviews.
- Research and analysis of assigned large elements of revenue and expense and the related internal reporting.
- Ensure general ledger account balances are materially correct in compliance with internal controls and GAAP and that internal control risks are tested and documented in accordance with Sarbanes‑Oxley.
- Lead accounting initiatives/projects including process improvement, regulatory compliance/changes and policy. Mentors less senior staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or other related quantitative discipline is required. Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements.
Minimum ExperienceFour (4) years experience in accounting for financial reporting in a public accounting firm or in a large for‑profit corporate environment.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP standards.
- Outstanding knowledge of business software, spreadsheet applications and/or mainframe or web‑based applications.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills.

Preferred QualificationsCPA preferred, Public accounting experience, Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general ledger accounting, Experience working in large or complex business environments, ERP experience preferred, Alteryx or Power BI experience, Fixed assets experience Oracle FCF.

Additional DetailsThis is a hybrid position located in Collierville, TN. Candidates must live within 50 miles of the campus location. Employees will be required to work at the Fed Ex campus location several times per week. This position is not eligible for relocation.
