Essential Functions- Provide an interdisciplinary problem‑based curriculum that includes a focus on real‑world application.
- Provide a classroom setting that encourages students to work independently and collaboratively in an inquiry‑based environment that encourages creative solutions to authentic, complex problems.
- Support student use of technology resources to conduct research, demonstrate creative and critical thinking, and communicate and work collaboratively.
- Collaborate with other STEM educators as an inter‑disciplinary team to plan, implement, and improve integrated STEM learning experiences.
- Develop and administer specific performance‑based assessments to demonstrate students' STEM literacy necessary for the next level of STEM learning.
- Participate in a continuous program of STEM‑specific professional learning.
- Maintain a complete inventory of all items in the lab and report needs to the Curriculum & Accountability Department.
- Liaise with the Curriculum and Accountability Department for all Science, Math, STEM needs/information.
- Serve as point person for all STEM related clubs in the assigned building.
- Support other classroom teachers in implementing established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and various community resources to improve overall quality of student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
- Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Monitor students in a variety of educational environments to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Report incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, harassment, zero‑tolerance offenses) to maintain personal safety of students and adhere to state law and board policies.
- Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns or direct to appropriate personnel.
- Direct teacher assistants, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address the needs of individual students.
- Demonstrate and model the integration of technology in all curriculum areas on a regular basis.
- Follow a plan for professional technology development and actively seek opportunities to grow professionally.
- Serve as Robotics Sponsor for the assigned school.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree and endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate.
- Must be highly qualified.
- Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the Tennessee Board of Education.
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position.

Ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and analyze data for recognizing actual or probable interactive effects and relationships. - Human Interaction:
Ability to provide guidance, effective supervision, assistance, and interpretation to others regarding the application of procedures and standards. - Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization:
Ability to operate and control equipment, machinery, and tools used in essential functions. - Verbal Aptitude:
Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and advisory data. - Mathematical Aptitude:
Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculate decimals and percentages, apply principles of fractions, and interpret graphs. - Functional Reasoning:
Ability to apply principles of rational systems, laws, and procedures; interpret instructions and exercise independent judgment. - Situational Reasoning:
Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in evaluating information against measurable criteria and program goals.
- Physical Ability:
Exert light physical effort, possible lifting up to 50 pounds, extended periods at a keyboard or workstation. - Sensory Requirements:
Ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals; communicate orally. - Environmental Factors:
Exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as rude or irate customers.
