Health Information Management Director, Medical Records, RHIA, TN
The Southern Medical Recruiters team invites applications for a full‑time Health Information Management Director to lead the Medical Records department at a general acute care hospital in Tennessee.
Responsibilities- Record processing and completion, coding, clinical documentation improvement, abstracting, transcription, and release of information.
- Participate in performance improvement activities, MR/UR Committee meetings, and provide data and statistics for internal and other medical staff meetings.
- Prepare and submit reports of record delinquency, physician suspension, and related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, hospital policies, and industry regulations (CMS, Joint Commission, Medical Staff Bylaws, etc.).
- Maintain the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of medical records.
- Plan, implement, and monitor quality and production of department functions to support patient care and hospital needs.
- Achieve internal and hospital‑established HIM goals and targets.
- Manage HIM operations within the established budget.
- Perform personnel management functions and provide training and support to HIM staff.
- Collaborate with physicians and department managers to meet department and hospital requirements and goals.
- Education: Graduate of an AHIMA‑accredited program with a baccalaureate degree in Science and Medical Record Administration or higher; RHIA required.
- Experience: Minimum of five years’ experience as an HIM Director in an acute care facility; experience with Microsoft Office, ad‑hoc query software, electronic health records, image scan/index software, workflow, and computer assisted coding (preferably 3M); experience leading a Clinical Documentation Improvement Program (CDIP).
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, decision‑making, and accountability skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
