The Paralegal will be a key member of the Legal and Risk Management team and assists in the following areas: litigation, employment law, contracts, regulatory matters, subpoena/records request processing, cyber‑security, real estate leases, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate governance, and insurance, as assigned by the SVP, Legal and Risk Management.
Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct internal and other computer assisted searches for information and documents, federal and/or state statutes, regulations, recorded judicial decisions and other legal sources and reference materials.
- Perform administrative tasks including organizing and distributing information and documents, scheduling meetings, and records management.
- Draft memoranda and prepare matter and issue summaries and reports for review.
- Maintain records of all litigation and arbitration matters and coordinate with outside counsel and carriers.
- Maintain all records relating to the corporate legal entities and coordinate required filings and updates.
- Interact with various internal and external parties involved in the legal and risk management process.
- Track and ensure that all deadlines are met in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Perform all assigned tasks accurately, efficiently and timely.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate relevant information to leadership.
- Assist in the development of an Enterprise Risk Management program.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in legal services or a related field or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace preferred.
- Proficiency in Lexis/Nexis or Westlaw for legal research.
- Experience with document management systems.
- Experience in contracts, corporate resolutions, and other similar corporate items.
- Gives attention to detail and follows instruction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time management; maximizes productivity.
- Collaborative and team oriented approach.
- Based in or willing to move to the Memphis, TN area.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment, where a computer and office equipment will be used as needed to perform duties. This is a full‑time, on‑site role.
- Regularly required to sit, reach, grasp, stand and move from one area to another.
- Constantly and repeatedly use keyboard/mouse.
- Occasionally required to push, pull, bend, lift and move up to 25 lbs.
- Minimal travel required as needed for job related duties such as training, project work and administrative tasks.
