Qualifications
- Personal: Baptized believer who is in theological alignment with Oak Lane and our Statement of Beliefs
- A deep, personal relationship with Jesus as evidenced by the fruit of the Spirit
- Willingness to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
- Able to take direction and handle constructive criticism well
- Professional: Passion for Children’s Ministry and Christian education
- Proficiency with modern computer programs (Canva, Google Docs, Email)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, with preference given to those with degrees in Ministry, Education, Human Services, or related fields
- Leadership & Vision:
- Oversee all Children’s Ministry (birth-5th grade) programming, ensuring excellence and alignment with the mission of Oak Lane Christian Church
- Establish goals and objectives that support the mission and vision of Children’s Ministry and provide leadership and organizational structure
- Develop and maintain policies for the safety and protection of the ministry and those it serves
- Advocate for Children’s Ministry facilities and needs
- Discipleship & Pastoral Care:
- Teach and model a lifestyle of mission, encouraging children to live out their faith in everyday life
- Provide pastoral care for parents, children, and volunteers
- Build relationships with children and their families, providing guidance, accountability, and prayer support
- Provide parenting guidance and resources as well as encouragement for parents to disciple their children at home
- Volunteer Management:
- Oversee volunteer recruitment, training, and scheduling
- Lead Children’s Ministry by coaching, evaluating, and serving alongside volunteers
- Cultivate a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility within the ministry
- Ensure that policies are clearly communicated and enforced
- Programming & Events:
- Ensure alignment of teachers and curriculum with the theological convictions of Oak Lane Christian Church.
- Plan and facilitate weekly ministry activities and Children’s Ministry events
- Participate in Church special events and services
- Collaboration & Outreach:
- Collaborate with church staff to ensure teamwork and support of church-wide initiatives through unified ministry efforts
- Partner with Student Ministry to create a sense of connected ministry
- Establish partnerships with local schools and community organizations to extend the church’s influence and connect with the unchurched
- Serve as requested on special teams and creative projects that will benefit ministry of Oak Lane Christian Church
- Administration & Communication:
- Maintain regular office hours as agreed upon with the Senior Minister
- Maintain an organized ministry calendar
- Manage the Children’s Ministry budget and ensure alignment with the church’s mission and vision
- Use modern tools (social media, email/text, and Church app) to promote ministry events and keep members informed
All other duties as assigned.
We’re accepting applications for both full-time and part-time Children’s Director positions. The full-time position may also include helping lead the church’s social media and communications, depending on the candidate’s experience, gifts, and the needs of the church.
Salary commensurate with experience.
