Summary:

Responsible for enhancing and improving the SRIM experience specifically in heartful care for our residents and their families. Demonstrates and promotes SRIM’s core value of the golden rule. Treating residents, families, visitors and associates in the same way we would like to be treated. Performs assigned nursing procedures for the comfort and well‑being of residents such as assisting in admission of new residents, assisting with activities of daily living when needed.

Administers specified medications. Supervises non‑licensed nursing staff and participates in the evaluation of non‑licensed staff by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates excellent decision‑making skills and can understand the impact of those decisions.
  • Sets and manages priorities.
  • Accepts calls from staff during nights and weekends.
  • Meets with oncoming and departing licensed practical nurse to discuss resident's condition and any occurrences from the shift.
  • Responsible for making sure communications are clear, accurate and timely.
  • Counts controlled substances with outgoing nurse, assumes responsibility for assuring accuracy of count before accepting keys.
  • Checks, orders and administers prescribed medication with 100% accuracy.
  • Ensures the correct dosage by never pre‑pouring medications.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of important medication interactions and side effects.
  • Ensures medication cart is locked at all times.
  • Obtains pertinent information and completes all required forms as established by policy and procedure and ongoing thereafter upon resident admission.
  • Completes and maintains the ECC and LNS logs, service plan, progress notes, monthly summaries and follows healthcare provider orders.
  • Assists in completing evaluations when needed for residents.
  • Provides hands‑on care as needed to meet the needs of the residents.
  • Works with the ADORS in reviewing and investigating all incident reports and recommends appropriate action and follow‑up to the DORS/executive director.
  • Understands and adheres to the ALF regulations pertaining to assisted living health‑care laws.
  • Maintains a safe and secure working environment free of objects/situations that could cause harm and/or falls to residents, families, visitors and associates.
  • Practices good body mechanics and safe work habits.
  • Follows established policy and procedures in emergency situations.
  • Provides daily feedback on performance to associates in nursing.
  • Participates in associate performance evaluations when requested by the DORS.
  • Ensures associates participate in activities provided to residents as described in the activity calendar.
  • Responds promptly and courteously to resident requests for assistance including phone calls and requests from family and visitors.
  • Ensures a safe, clean and orderly environment for all residents.
  • Supports a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors and associates.
  • Wears clean and appropriate dress per established policy.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Is considered essential personnel, especially during emergencies.
  • Takes initiative, seeks out additional information and offers solutions/suggestions.
  • Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned or requested.
  • Willingly takes on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    Directly supervises employees in the Resident Services/Nursing Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
