Job Overview
Carrier Climate Solutions (Residential) at the Collierville, Tennessee factory is primarily involved in the production and assembly of residential HVAC systems. The position is an onsite opportunity for a Maintenance Electrician on the 2nd shift in a unionized environment. Under general supervision, the Maintenance Electrician maintains and repairs both electronic and electro‑mechanical designed systems, including analog and digital meters, laboratory equipment, electronic safety devices, welding control systems, control panels, motor speed controllers, and all other electronic systems excluding programmable controller software.
Key Responsibilities- Perform repairs on equipment by diagnosing faults and making repairs, readjustments, or calibrations.
- Maintain and assist in keeping maintenance and calibration records and replacement parts for the electronic/electro‑mechanical equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment per instructions and schedules.
- Replace unit components such as control relays, protective relays, thermostats, fan and blower motors, fuses, and EAC compressors.
- Laying out construction wiring, installing and maintaining electrical circuits for machine installations, conveyors, elevators, cranes, etc.
- Perform expert troubleshooting and wiring of electrical circuits.
- Maintain and repair AC and DC motors and control equipment.
- Install conduit, bus‑bar, and general wiring.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas.
- From time to time troubleshoot and repair lighting units and power circuits in offices, replace fluorescent tubes and ballasts, and clean reflectors and diffusers.
- Follow site safety rules, cardinal rule cards, job‑specific standard work, and any EHS training documents.
- Report chemical spills and environmental concerns to appropriate personnel.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of industrial experience as a Maintenance Electrician.
- Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade and capable of lifting items up to 50 lbs.
- Read, write and pass the Carrier Electrician Qualification test.
- General knowledge of electrical codes and requirements, i.e., National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Typical trade equipment used: multimeters, oscilloscopes, hand tools, electrical tools or soldering tools.
- Trace and test electrical circuits in accordance with safety protocols.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, work instructions, bills of material, and precision measuring tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with industrial electronic systems (e.g., motor controls, process instrumentation) to maintain operational efficiency.
- Complete applicable safety programs, including electrical safety, lockout‑tagout, PPE, safety audits and/or inspections.
- Problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- English communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.

The hourly rate for this position is between $24.00 and $48.00 per hour. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
