Mueller, Inc. manufactures steel buildings and metal roofing, primarily for customers in Texas and the Southwestern US. They both make their products in-house and have an engineering team and quality control to ensure the durability and value of their products.
Job DescriptionBase pay starts at $28.50 per hour Shift: Full Time Day Shift DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The driver will be expected to transport, deliver, and/or unload metal roofing, components, and building systems to customers in a safe and timely manner to our dealers, distribution centers and/or construction job sites using a tractor-trailer.
- Safely assist in the unloading of the product using a Moffett to customer's location and/or return products
- Deliver material in "route truck/multi-drop" fashion to destinations in accordance with Federal regulations
- Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speed in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather or in tight loading dock areas
- Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including driver logs, fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law
- Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle
- Able to answer questions regarding packing lists, invoices, packaging, and material content. If unable to answer specific questions, direct customer to appropriate contact
- Perform pre & post-trip inspections thoroughly
- Maintain cleanliness and integrity of vehicle and equipment
- Immediately report any necessary repairs and/or maintenance needed
- Actively ensure compliance with DOT guidelines
- Other general warehouse duties will be expected during non-delivery times. This will include loading customers, warehouse maintenance, and various production tasks.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
- Have an acceptable accident and moving violation Motor Vehicle Record
- 2 years of previous tractor-trailer flatbed driving experience including winter driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)
- Valid Medical Card
- Must be able to work independently
- Ability to work effectively with people in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable
- Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing work
- Ability to stoop, bend, stand for long periods of time
- Ability to maintain a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to lift 40-50 lbs.
