Our client, a nationwide provider of high-quality food products has an immediate opening for an experienced Cost Accountant,to join their winning team in Collingswood.
Our candidate of choice will play a critical role in supporting the consolidation of the company’s North American operations. This position requires a highly analytical professional with strong IT capabilities to streamline processes, develop operational insights, and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will work closely with plant operations, finance, and senior management, gaining hands‑on experience across multiple functions.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:- Develop and maintain standard and actual product costs across multiple product lines.
- Analyze raw materials, labor, and overhead costs to ensure accurate product costing.
- Support the calculation of recommended selling prices based on cost structures and margin targets.
- Perform cost variance analysis and identify key drivers impacting profitability.
- The cost accountant will also work closely with the sales teams and serve as the primary customer‑facing contact for costing, pricing, and margin‑related support.
- Part of the team that review our pricing strategy on a weekly basis.
- Actively collaborate with production teams at two plants to understand manufacturing processes and cost drivers
- Conduct regular plant visits to gain firsthand knowledge of operations and validate cost assumptions
- Support plant management with cost analysis, reporting, and recommendations
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in manufacturing or food processing
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and modeling)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Comfortable working in a plant environment and interacting with operations teams
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities independently
- Proven ability to develop and improve processes
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Process Improvement:
- Lead and contribute to the development and implementation of new costing processes
- identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements to enhance cost accuracy and operational performance
