Property Accountant

Location: Collingswood, NJ
• On-Site

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $70,000–$75,000 annual, plus bonus potential

Job Summary

The Property Accountant is responsible for satisfying all aspects of accounting within a specific portfolio of properties. This position reports to the Property Controller and works directly with Regional and Property Management to analyze property results and performance.

Essential Job Functions
  • Models and instills company mission and values
  • Monthly closing of financial ledgers
  • Completes timely bank reconciliations
  • Reviews and analyzes ledger accounts
  • Reviews budgets and plans forecasting
  • Submits quarterly reporting to State Agencies
  • Completes financial reporting package
  • Addresses and resolves audit requests
  • Responds to inquiries from regional and property managers
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 5 years of property accounting experience
  • USDA rural development accounting experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Yardi or other property accounting software
  • Understanding of state agency reporting
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Understanding of tenant rent activities, including collections
  • Strong financial acumen and critical thinking skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret data and recommend performance-enhancing actions
  • Knowledge of capital expenditures and qualifications for reserve accounts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, action-oriented environment
  • Ability to establish relationships across the organization and at various hierarchical levels
