Job Summary

This hybrid position combines the roles of Route Security Officer and Route Technician. The incumbent will provide safety and security to employees and property, both internally and externally, survey potential risks, set redemption loads, replenish cassettes, maintain and service game equipment, enforce rules, assist law enforcement, and recommend operational improvements.

• Provide overwatch and physical security to collection teams.
• Drive a follow vehicle and maintain safe vehicle operations while providing overwatch security.
• Maintain situational and tactical awareness throughout shifts.
• Perform rapid site surveys to evaluate safety of entry locations.
• Continuously monitor tactical situations and make timely safety decisions.
• Use company vehicles to deliver and collect cassettes at customer locations.
• Operate various company vehicles including cargo vans, sedans, and SUVs.
• Complete necessary paperwork to document access to VGTs and RTs and movement of property.
• Follow SOP for redemption terminal loading and video‑gaming terminal collection processes.
• Remain alert and implement safety protocols, preventing accidental mishandling of packages.
• Maintain continuous communication with security personnel while on route.
• Return all valuables handled during daily routes.
• Maintain all required certifications, licenses, and training.
• Respond to workplace violence incidents using appropriate force levels.
• Provide first aid to victims at the level of training.
• Display a welcoming and positive attitude toward all persons.
• Respond to weather, natural disaster, structural emergencies, fires, and other crises.
• Assist in evacuations by directing employees to safe points.
• Take photos of suspicious individuals, vehicles, or situations and disseminate via Slack or to a security supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Active duty or retired certified Illinois law‑enforcement officer.
• Minimum of seven years of law‑enforcement experience.
• Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Capable of working independently and as part of various teams and committees.
• Versatility and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
• Strong tactical, weapon‑handling, organizational, problem‑solving, and analytical skills; capable of managing priorities and potentially dangerous incidents.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain a Terminal Handler’s License from the Illinois Gaming Board.

Frequent standing, sitting, walking, talking, and hearing. Requires hand and finger dexterity, including keyboard use. Involves driving long distances, rapid physical movements during emergencies, occasional lifting/pushing up to 50 pounds. Requires certification in CPR/AED and first aid, and ability to apply physical techniques to control resisting subjects with appropriate force. Exposure to varied outdoor weather. Protective equipment may include firearms, flashlights, restraint gear, etc.

Noise level is usually moderate.

Base Pay Range: $30.00 per hour.
