Generator Technician

• Perform routine inspections and make modifications to internal combustion engines, diesel generators, and associated equipment
• Diagnose malfunctions and communicate with the customer of needed repairs
• Perform all levels of preventive and corrective maintenance on Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and annunciator panels
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings and prints
• Perform load testing on units to identify possible problems
• Make electrical and mechanical wiring modifications to diesel control circuits
• Rebuild and repair gas compressors (turbochargers) used for forced-induction of IC engines, head gaskets, seals, water pumps, catalytic converters, torque heads, belts and hoses
• Conduct automatic and manual transfer tests of simulated power outages to ensure generators are functioning properly
• Test batteries, fuel, coolant, and oil to ensure the generator runs properly
• Identify any warranty repairs and document properly on the repair order
• Complete required documentation for work order files and customer billing
• Other duties as assigned

• Knowledge and experience with mechanics or a related field
• Mechanically inclined and able to work independently

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid CDL driver's license with clean driving record (preferred)
• 2+ years' experience as a Generator Technician or similar position (preferred)

Salary: $24.31 - $42.52 per hour
