Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Field/Service Technician
Tetra Tech is adding an I&E Technician to our Federal Fuels Program team based in Collinsville, IL.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance tasks
- Perform corrective maintenance tasks
- Perform failure analysis and implement improvements
- Calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair hydrant fueling automation system controls, valves, and instruments
- Troubleshoot and repair control circuits and motor control centers
- Mount, wire, program, and test instrumentation and control equipment
- Write reports and record data on testing techniques, equipment, and specifications
- Enter work order information into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) database
- Maintain effective communications with clients, subcontractors, and internal team members
- Schedule and conduct on-site meetings with clients and subcontractors as required
- Continually update knowledge of automated fuel distribution systems and instrumentation
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and in a timely manner to meet deadlines
- Work independently or with others as a team to complete assigned projects
- Travel as needed, approximately 75%
- Work overtime as required
- Perform additional duties as required

- 5 years of experience with a strong technical background
- Associates Degree or equivalent education in controls, electronics, instrumentation, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to provide technical expertise as required
- Experience executing on-site fuel distribution system preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, safety procedures, and troubleshooting activities affiliated with military fueling systems is highly desirable
- Maintain a valid driver's license
- Must be able to obtain a DOD Common Access Card (CAC) within first 3 months of employment and/or pass a favorable Background Investigation (BI)
- This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.
- If this position requires a CAC card, CUI Enclave Access and/or a Security Clearance, a background check will be completed.
- Frequently ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Frequently move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
- Frequently move about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Frequently adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
- Frequently repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Frequently operate machinery and/or power tools.
- Frequently operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Frequently work in low and high temperatures.
- Frequently required to work in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Frequently work in noisy environments.
- Frequent fieldwork at client sites, requiring exposure to various outdoor weather conditions in fueling facility environments.
- Occasional work in extreme and austere environments.
- Occasional work at heights of 50 feet or more.

The noise level in the work atmosphere is usually low to moderate but on occasion higher due to work activities near airfields and operating equipment.
- Fluent in English language
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare written technical documents and convey information in reports
- Knowledge of electricity, voltage, and current relationships
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Company environmental guidelines
- Knowledge of maintenance activities and procedures performed on control systems used in fuel distribution
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) manufactured by General Electric (GE), GE-Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Emerson, Siemens, etc.
- Knowledge of techniques for troubleshooting ladder logic to identify faults by monitoring real‑time PLC program executing, checking physical input/output (I/O) status, and verifying field wiring
