Itty Bitty Ball Program Instructors
* 6 Week Seasonal Position (May through June with hiring and training beginning in March)
The City of Collinsville's Park and Recreation Department is seeking enthusiastic, energetic, and fun-loving individuals to join our team as Itty Bitty Ball Program Instructors. As an Itty Bitty Ball Coach, you will be responsible for leading structured, age-appropriate baseball and softball instructional classes for children aged 3 to 4 years. Your primary goal will be to create a safe, creative, and engaging learning environment where young children can develop fundamental baseball & softball skills, improve coordination, and enhance their social skills through play.
The program runs May to June, Mondays & Thursdays for 6 weeks.
- Lead engaging, fun, and structured Itty Bitty Ball classes for children ages 3‑4, ensuring age‑appropriate activities and games.
- Promote physical, cognitive, and social development by guiding children through a variety of baseball activities and games.
- Create and maintain a safe, secure learning environment for all participants by adhering to the City of Collinsville safety guidelines and procedures.
- Foster positive behavior by managing children constructively and encouraging good sportsmanship and cooperation.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with children, parents, and City staff, providing positive feedback and addressing concerns as needed.
- Organize and prepare for each class by arriving ready with a clear understanding of the day's activities.
- Be a team player by collaborating effectively with fellow staff members and coaches to ensure a cohesive, positive program experience.
- Maintain professionalism by representing the City of Collinsville Parks and Recreation with a strong work ethic and positive attitude at all times.
- Embrace enthusiasm by bringing high energy to every class and creating an exciting, motivating atmosphere for young athletes.
- Have fun by embodying the joy of sports and ensuring every child enjoys a memorable experience.
Previous experience working with young children in coaching, teaching, or in a childcare setting is highly preferred.
Basic knowledge of baseball and softball fundamentals is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage and positively influence children's behavior.
Highly organized and punctual.
Enthusiastic, energetic, and patient demeanor.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Must pass a background check.
Pay RateThis position is $18.00 per hour.
