Full Time MGC ADVANCED POLYMERS INC, Colonial Heights, VA, US

Over 15 years ago MGC Advanced Polymers, Inc. was invested and licensed by Japanese chemical manufacturer Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. (MGC Tokyo, Japan) to construct a proprietary state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility in Colonial Heights, Virginia to produce MX Nylon, a polymer used in engineering plastics and food packaging. MGC’s development of a unique polymerization technology for the manufacture of MX Nylon and their twenty plus years of experience in both process and product contributed to the design and operation of this highly automated and modern plant.

The site of this 30-acre facility was selected for its proximity to customers, major transportation corridors, and the proximity to a large pool of knowledgeable potential employees.

• Understand and perform tasks per written procedures and instruction.
• Monitor production equipment and complete documentation.
• Maintain a high level of plant cleanliness and housekeeping.
• Operate valves, start/stop pumps and motors, and other production equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Must understand and follow all safety and operating procedures.

• 1-year Chemical operations background/experience is strongly preferred
• Ability to work on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to perform the physical labor associated with the position
  
  Possess a strong work ethic and initiative to learn the process
• Comfortable entering and working in confined spaces
• Ability to troubleshoot and take corrective action within an industrial setting
• Ability to handle and work with hazardous materials
• Ability to wear and work in PPE (personal protective equipment) which includes an air-purifying respirator
• Ability to communicate through multiple layers of the organization
• Overtime is available but is not required.
• High school diploma/GED

• Wear protective or safety equipment such as a hard hat, safety goggles, and respirator as needed.
• Walking between departments, using stairs, and climbing ladders.
• Bending, crouching, and kneeling.
• The ability to lift and carry 55 pounds (packaged product) manually and unassisted.
• Ability to work in potentially adverse ambient environmental conditions (rain, heat, cold, and humidity).
