Director of Nursing (DON) - Colonial Heights, VA Job Summary
Magnolia Post Acute is seeking a compassionate and experienced Director of Nursing to lead and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities at our Colonial Heights, VA facility. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional nursing care to our residents, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
ResponsibilitiesPlan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the nursing care facilities.
Develop, maintain, and periodically update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department.
Supervise and assist scheduling of employees within established state guidelines.
Provide leadership, education, counseling, and discipline, when appropriate, to assigned CNAs and other nursing personnel.
Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program for the nursing service department.
Participate in Facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies, as necessary or as may be directed.
Attend and participate in various committees of the Facility, including the Care Plan Committee, Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee, and Pharmaceutical Services Committee.
Develop and implement corrective action plans to address identified deficiencies.
Conduct regular rounds to ensure that the nursing service department is operating in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Provide coaching and mentoring to nursing staff to improve performance and achieve quality care goals.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless transitions and continuity of care.
Participate in staff development and continuing education programs to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.
Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
Experience in a DON or ADON role at a Skilled Nursing/Long Term Care Facility.
