Solstice Advanced Materials Colonial Heights facility manufactures high‑performance polyethylene fiber that’s used in a variety of applications including ballistic protection and medical devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Achieve plant targets for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Cost and Employee Morale by supporting daily execution in assigned Quality Control Labs
  • Resolve equipment and personnel issues
  • Ensure safe working conditions and behaviors in the Quality Area
  • Demonstrate servant leadership while managing the team, mirroring ownership in line with Solstice’s Core Behaviors and Values
  • Manage a unionized workforce through effective training, accountability, performance expectations, reviews and succession planning
  • Execute Management of Change (MOC) process including plant trials and new product development
  • Execute Six Sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve & Control) process in support of plant operations and new product development
  • Maintain site ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 certifications by supporting both internal and external audits
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) efforts to address quality opportunities
  • Drive business impact by improving year‑over‑year performance for key area metrics
  • Champion quality control plans by fully utilizing software programs such as Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Accurately report quality data into the Attainment system
  • Represent the Voice of the Customer (VOC) in supporting daily quality execution, new product development and responses to customer concerns
  • Develop new SOPs, controlled documents, and training material
  • Partner with Production leadership, Engineering, and unionized technicians to troubleshoot nonconformance and present strategic corrective actions
  • Support commissioning of new gas chromatography (GC) lab
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in quality control, production, or process engineering or supervision in industries such as Chemical, Textiles, Refinery, Pulp & Paper, Pharmaceutical or Petrochemical
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross‑functional work groups including suppliers, customers and associates, both verbally and in writing
  • Problem‑solving & Decision‑making – identifies and solves problems, develops innovative solutions, acts decisively, and shows good judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to use influencing skills to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Results orientation – maintains appropriate focus on short‑ and long‑term goals. Motivated by achievement, and persists until goals are reached, conveying a sense of urgency
  • Potential to assume more responsible roles within the organization
  • Fundamental understanding of Quality philosophies, Lean principles, safety, and Statistical Process Control
  • Must be able to acquire and analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods across a spectrum of business environments to facilitate process analysis and improvements
  • Advanced computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Windows, and ability to learn required computer systems/software (LIMS, SAP, Minitab, NWA, Uniformance, etc.)
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision. Proactive and acts without being prompted. Must manage time wisely and effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks
We Value
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical or textile engineering or related field
  • Experience supporting an ISO 13485, cGMP, or ISO 9001 quality system
  • Experience in Lab Vantage LIMS or other quality control software
  • Six Sigma certification preferred
U.S. Person Requirements

Compensation

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,339 – $110,423. The salary is a general guideline and may be adjusted based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and other factors.
