Senior Accountant - Construction

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 per year

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join a growing construction-focused organization in the Colorado Springs area. This role works closely with the CFO and Accounting team, handling core accounting functions while ensuring compliance with GAAP. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working on‑site in a fast‑paced construction environment. The CFO is wanting this person to eventually grow into the Controller/CFO.

• Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
• Manage the preparation and review of all monthly financial reports, ensuring they comply with financial regulations and standards.
• Analyze and report financial status including income statement variances, communicate financial results to management, budget preparation and analysis.
• Implement and maintain Work in Progress (WIP) schedules.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.
• Manage the company's tax planning and comply with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable taxes.
• Manage construction accounting processes, including recognition of revenue and cost at the project level.
• Coordinate and complete annual audits.
• Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.
• Continually improve processes and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting and data analysis.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior‑level finance or accounting position, preferably in the construction industry.
• Proven experience in managing Work in Progress (WIP) schedules.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and procedures.
• Proficiency in creating and analyzing monthly financial reports.
• Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
• Excellent organizational, problem‑solving, project management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work closely with senior management team.
• CPA or CMA certification preferred, but not mandatory.
