As a Business Support Specialist II supporting the Motor Vehicle Theft Unit, you will:
  • Screen, prioritize, and route incoming mail, phone calls for the unit.
  • Daily check of the Auto Theft and Theft email boxes for document changes to active, pending, and inactive cases.
  • Compose and type memos and letters from briefs and written/oral instruction; type from copy or transcriber, arrest warrants, public; compile information and prepare necessary reports.
  • Design, organize, and maintain filing system, office forms, and formats for reports and correspondence.
  • Keep updated list of officers, Criminal Histories, and maintain MVT, Theft, and RPM Unit prolific offender and warrant list.
  • Take minutes at meetings.
  • Assist in access for utility information. Assists with budget and prepares purchase orders.
  • Acts as Notary Public.
  • Daily check in LERMS Assigned Bureau, Patrol Investigations and Cop Logic folder
  • Send letters to victims of inactivated cases, search databases, process Criminal History requests, process recoveries of stolen vehicles and license plates, request outside agency case reports for motor vehicle thefts, watch videos for investigative leads, research and process Evidence Disposition letters, complete MVT validations, and monitor MVT recoveries.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers and supporting software
  • Knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, as well as be able to de-escalate customers and situations as necessary
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment
Education and Experience Equivalency:

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of academic coursework directly related to this position beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Qualifications:
  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).
  • Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field.
  • Must possess or obtain commission as a Colorado Notary Public within six months of hire
  • Three years of full-time responsible public safety records experience or criminal investigative experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous experience using the eDiscovery portal.
Pre-employment Requirements:

The job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of an extensive background investigation, to include a polygraph examination, extensive background check, fingerprinting, criminal history check, and other pre-employment assessments. The background investigation process commonly takes 6-8 weeks to complete.
