The mission of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources is to develop, preserve, and enhance the state's natural resources for the benefit and enjoyment of current and future citizens and visitors. Responsibilities- Staff the park entrance station.
- Provide information and assistance to visitors (distributes maps/brochures, orients visitors to park facilities and amenities, promotes education programs, educates on State Park regulations, etc.).
- Provide information to the boating and non-boating public.
- Sell parks passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, firewood and other novelties.
- May sell gift certificates, search and rescue cards, boat registrations, OHV registrations and snowmobile registrations, fishing and hunting licenses at some locations.
- Operate a computer Point of Sales system.
- Answer telephones and transfer/take messages.
- photocopying and filing; collect revenue, complete shift reports and balance the shift box at end of each shift.
- May prepare campground reservations forms and documents.
- May document and report visitor complaints.
- Cleaning and light maintenance of interior and exterior of entrance station and offices, including litter pick up.
- May assist with special events or programs within the park.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a current motor vehicle report.
- Willing to work outside during inclement weather.
- Must be able to lift 75-100 pounds repeatedly during a single workday.
- Knowledge of power tools and hand tools preferred.
- Knowledge of small engine and other equipment maintenance and repair preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certifications may be required (Can be covered by CPW).
- Must be able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Possess good interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
- Previous experience handling money and working with the public is helpful.
- Substantial comfort and experience with computer systems, specifically Point of Sale programs.
- May need to undergo criminal background investigation.
- Applications may be received online or in person in State Park.
- Possess strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to work with little supervision; may be required to work the entrance station for an 8 hour shift and take lunch in the station.
Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.
To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be reviewed for workers who have an assigned State fleet vehicle, are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position, or use a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle.
Successful completion and passing of background screening may be required for placement in this position.
Physical RequirementsThis position requires physical activities that involve using arms and legs and moving the body, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
