About

The Role

The Assistant General Superintendent is an Executive in the company. The Assistant General Superintendent works in collaboration with the General Superintendent to provide overall direction on projects, and develops and maintains strong working relationships with the project owners throughout the project lifecycle. This individual visits the project sites frequently to evaluate project performance, site conditions, compliance with our safety and quality standards, compliance with scope, and effective management of those that report to them.

This individual is responsible for ensuring that constructability reviews, logistics plans and baseline schedules meet or exceed project requirements.

What You'll Accomplish
  • Manage/Lead Field Project Managers, Field Engineers, Superintendents, Foreman and crews on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Attend weekly scheduling/progress meetings and pre-construction/post-construction meetings
  • Conduct meetings with Project Managers/Field Engineers/Superintendents/Foremen prior to project start up to walk through how the project was bid and lead discussions in how we anticipate constructing the project
  • Highlight project plans that will go into the field to make it easier for the field personnel to grasp the important points of a project. (This may involve taking the bid set of plans that are marked up by the estimator and copying all of the highlighted areas onto the field set of plans)
  • Educate Superintendents and Foremen about job cost reports and budgets and the importance of analyzing this data as it pertains to profitability of the company
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Manager to determine equipment needs and mobilization schedules on specific projects
  • Meet with project owners on any change orders, extra work, issues, etc and verify projects are built according to design plans
  • Identify all areas of training needed for field employees and ensure they complete by required deadlines
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
What We’re Looking For

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or 7 years of experience in a Construction Management role

Field of Study Preferred: Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management

Required

Work Experience:

Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Heavy Highway Construction or Civil Construction

Travel Requirements: Required to travel and work on site at all projects in all seasons

Additional Requirements
  • MSHA Part 46 or 48 experience preferred
  • Excellent computer skills MS Office, Spreadsheets, Power Point
  • Experience with SAP Experience training employees
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit test
