Assist with the manual distribution, raking, and luting of hot-mix asphalt to ensure a smooth, even grade before compaction;
Shovel excess asphalt, gravel, or stone; fill trenches and ditches; and clear debris from the paving path to ensure a seamless finish;
Support the crew in patching asphalt surfaces with hot or cold mix, ensuring joints are matched and finished to plan specifications;
Set up and move traffic control devices (cones, barricades, signs) and function as a flagger/spotter to ensure the safety of the crew and the public;
Assist in the backing of trucks and the dumping of materials into the paver, using hand signals to communicate with drivers and operators
