We Are Looking for an Experienced Commercial GC Project Manager

Hammers Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Project Manager to manage projects from preconstruction through final closeout.

Successful candidates should have direct experience working for a commercial general contractor and managing multiple aspects of commercial construction, including subcontractors, project financials, schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders, owner communication, and project closeout.

Experience limited primarily to residential construction, restoration, facilities maintenance, or a single specialty trade does not meet the experience requirements for this position.

We are looking for a Project Manager who enjoys being directly involved in their projects, building lasting relationships with owners and subcontractors, and working collaboratively with the Hammers team from project development through completion.

What You'll Be Responsible For

As a Hammers Project Manager, you will be responsible for the overall success of assigned commercial construction projects, including:

  • Managing commercial projects from preconstruction through final closeout
  • Developing and maintaining project budgets, cost projections, and financial reporting
  • Reviewing plans, specifications, scopes of work, and contract documents
  • Procuring and managing subcontractors and vendors
  • Preparing and managing subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Developing and maintaining project schedules
  • Coordinating closely with project superintendents and field personnel
  • Monitoring project progress, costs, quality, and schedule
  • Identifying project risks and developing solutions before they impact the project
  • Conducting project meetings with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Negotiating subcontractor and vendor pricing to achieve best value
  • Maintaining strong communication with owners throughout construction
  • Supporting estimating and preconstruction efforts as needed
  • Coordinating permitting, inspections, punch lists, warranties, and project closeout
  • Managing multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Building long‑term relationships with clients, subcontractors, and industry partners
What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial construction experience
  • Demonstrated experience working for a commercial general contractor
  • Experience managing commercial construction projects through multiple phases of construction
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, scopes, contracts, and schedules
  • Experience managing subcontractors and vendors
  • Experience with project budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and change management
  • Working knowledge of RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and project closeout
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction sequencing and field operations
  • Ability to manage multiple active projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and problem‑solving abilities
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work full‑time, on‑site in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Experience with ground‑up commercial construction
