OverviewThe Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Colorado College invites applications for two one-year visiting assistant professor positions with specialty in Organic Chemistry starting in August 2026. These nine-month positions are renewable for a second year dependent on department needs and a favorable performance review. The department is committed to undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts setting and seeks visiting faculty who can teach introductory courses to a diverse student body.
Primary teaching responsibilities include Organic Chemistry I & II (CH 250, CH 251). The department supports inclusive teaching and a nurturing learning environment and embraces innovative teaching methods within a liberal arts framework. Support for visiting faculty includes mentoring through the Mentoring Alliance Program (MAP) and professional development through the Crown Center for Teaching.
- Teach Organic Chemistry I & II (CH 250, CH 251) and contribute to introductory level and general chemistry coursework as needed.
- Engage in undergraduate teaching within a diverse liberal arts setting and implement inclusive pedagogy.
- Participate in curriculum development and contribute to a supportive learning community of faculty and students.
- Demonstrate commitment to Institutional Equity & Belonging through ongoing curriculum review and inclusive teaching practices.
- Utilize and participate in professional development opportunities through campus programs (e.g., MAP, Crown Center for Teaching).
A PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field is required (applications from ABD candidates who will complete their PhD before August 2026 will be considered), plus relevant teaching experience as instructor of record or extensive experience as a teaching assistant.
Preferred Qualifications- Broad teaching experience in chemistry, including organic chemistry.
