Overview

Adjunct Faculty:
Astronomy & Physics at Aims Community College. This is an open talent pool; applicants will be reviewed on a semesterly basis and contacted based on the needs of the College. For questions, contact Dr. Carole Brown, Chair of Natural & Physical Sciences, wn.

Work hours include teaching day and/or evening classes at the Greeley campus or satellite campuses in Loveland and Fort Lupton. Occasional travel may be required.

• Instruct assignments which may include Astronomy, Geology or Physics depending on the candidate’s area of expertise.
• Participate in ongoing professional development.
• Work collaboratively with full-time faculty who are course captains for the courses assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair and the Academic Dean.

• Master's degree in astronomy, physics, astrophysics, or engineering, or a closely related discipline (master's degree must show at least 12 credits in content-specific graduate level courses) OR a master's degree including 18 graduate-level credit hours in astronomy and/or physics. Graduate-level science education courses can account for no more than six of the 18 graduate hours.

• Based on course content, wages range from $1,297.00 per credit to $3,753.00 per credit. In some cases, pay may be based on part-time per credit pay and pro-rated on a 10% per student basis due to enrollment.

• Screening/Selection:
  Applicants must provide a thorough and complete application. Initial screening will be conducted by a committee based on completed application materials.
• Employment may involve temporary assignments lasting less than 6 months (e.g., curriculum development, short-term projects, meetings, substitute duties) which could include additional temporary pay.
• All positions require a criminal background check and may require industry-specific screenings such as an MVR, physical, and/or drug screen. A conviction is considered relative to duties.

• All required documents must be submitted with every application. There is no way for Aims to attach these documents in the process. Current Aims faculty are not required to submit transcripts if official transcripts are already on file.
• Faculty: upon hire, must submit academic transcripts from an accredited institution. Degrees from outside the United States require credential evaluation (NACES or AICE lists available).
