Salary Range$66,000 – $68,000 per academic year. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Special Education. This position resides within the Department of Teaching and Learning of the College of Education and will begin Fall 2026.
Typical time allocation: 40% teaching, 40% research, 20% service. The teaching load is five classes per academic year (reduced to four for the first year), some may be online, hybrid or off‑campus, with potential summer opportunities. The faculty member will develop and refine teaching and assessment practices; maintain an active research agenda; advise students; contribute to the COE’s assessment and reauthorization initiatives;
and participate in program, department, college, and community meetings.
The duties and responsibilities include:
Teaching, research, and service/leadership per the COE Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure Guidelines.
Primary teaching and advising (40%) in graduate and undergraduate programs in Special Education and the undergraduate program in Inclusive Elementary Education.
Research (40%) contribution through publications, grants, and other sponsored activities.
Service and leadership (20%) to the profession and discipline, beginning at program, department, and college, expanding to university and system.
