FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt
- Two years of college or high school graduate with two years experience working with children with special needs in an organized setting.
- Experience working as a PCA (personal care assistant) or TSS (therapeutic staff support) and training in behavior support techniques is strongly preferred.
- Ability to engage intellectually and physically in all components of the educational process.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all constituents (administrators, colleagues, students, parents, and others).
- Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Ability to use computers and perform clerical skills at a proficient level.
The One-To-One Aide assists a certified special education teacher by providing on-going academic, social and/or behavioral programming for one assigned student who requires specialized assistance to maintain progress toward IEP and/or FBA goals. In addition to respecting the rights of our students, a primary focus of the One-To‑One Aide is positive behavior support and student safety.
The Classroom Aide supports a certified teacher with preparing instructional materials, implementing lesson plans, reinforcing instruction/tutoring, monitoring student behavior, and documenting student progress throughout the school day.
